Motivational, Metric Monday!

Happy Monday everyone! Make sure you stay motivated, because I know every week it feels MANIC come Monday!
Aside from the usual sweatfests that are my weekend workouts, we did finally get out of the house like we weren’t grandma and grandpa newlywed! Horray, progress! 😉

We headed out to the Ritz in Ybor to see one of my favorite bands, Metric, and enjoy some awesome music and adult beverages (and I STILL awoke at 5am to run…my sweat smelled like cupcake liquor 😉

What is your favorite way to workout/exercise: I am a big fan of lifting heavy things! I love the feeling that weightlifting gives me; it is very empowering and gives such a boost of confidence.

                                  

What is your #1 cheat food: Right now I’m doing a Whole30 program, so no cheats allowed this month, but typically, McDonalds Oreo McFlurries or tortilla chips!

What advise do you have for those starting on a fitness journey: Start with small goals and build up from there. I keep a running “Goals” list on my blog and am constantly adding more items and checking new things off. An example might be to use all of the following on your list: Complete one unassisted pull-up; complete three unassisted pull-ups; complete ten unassisted pull-ups. Or, if you’re a runner, maybe something like: Run a 5k in 36 minutes; run a 5k in 33 minutes; run a 5k in 30 minutes. This way, you have set stretch goals, but also have a more attainable goal that can be checked off in the interim.

Dream destination race/location: I am not a born runner, but I would like to complete a Warrior Dash in Michigan next year!

Favorite inspirational fitness personality/trainer: I love watching Chris Powell. He is extremely motivating, from both a fitness perspective and a mental perspective.



Workout apparel must have (+brand): I am a bargain shopper, so I’m all about finding a good deal. My latest favorite bargain purchase are these Old Navy Active Compression Shorts. I have used them for both running, weight lifting, and circuit training, and I LOVE them! They don’t ride up, and they show off what I’m working hard for 😉

    You and your hubby are SO cute together (and look nothing like a grandma/grandpa duo)!! Great feature, Kat. I love Jennifer and her blog; she makes me want to become a BA weightlifter and instead of a wimpy runner girl. 🙂

    yeah! you should totally do the warrior dash! or come to Toronto and do the Spartan Sprint next summer! (better than warrior dash in my opinion 😉 )
