I just thought I’d share some things that I’ve been reflecting on lately. You don’t mind do you?
Since it is Motivational Monday, I’ve been thinking of how to keep myself on track – not necessarily just motivated, but getting things done – all of them. I’ve realized that I really, really need to paint. I do, and I know it. I’ve been running around busy – the way I tend to always be, which is a positive for me – but haven’t taken the time to just sit and use my artsyness to put my inner kaleidoscope down on canvas – bad Kat. Right now my main word to focus on is:
BALANCE (kind of like when we used to watch PeeWee’s Playhouse when we were kids and there was that every elusive “Word of the Day” – AHHH!) Not in a negative way by any means, but balance for me means to feel like I’m doing everything I know I’m supposed to set out to do. I take time to run, go to the gym, hang out with hubs, blog, read blogs, work, eat, clean…and I’ve just grown accustomed to all of that – the challenge now is to include my other role as “artist.” I looked at my planner at work the other day and realized that I’d taken Friday off – Why? I had no idea; sometimes I schedule days off as “mental health” days ahead of time so it’s like a happy surprise when I look at my weekly schedule. On this week’s off day I need to paint – feel free to hold me to that!
This morning, we woke up to the a/c not working – not very motivating! So instead of baking indoors, hubs and I headed to the gym (yay for him getting up early!) and I booked it with a 4 mi tempo run – 35 minutes – fastest I’ve done in a long time for tempo!
With Motivational Monday comes Featured Sneakers!
This week’s Featured Sneakers is a duo: Pam and Christine! They are fellow Sweatpink sisters with me who love themselves a good Disney race!

What advise do you have for those starting on a fitness journey: Start slowly and build on your successes.
Dream destination race/location: Disneyland Paris half marathon……. rundisney does not have a race at this location but we hope they will someday!

Woman, I am with you 100% with needing to find better balance.
I don’t even have kids (like some crazy blogger/runners out there!), but I still have a hard time balancing a full time job, getting in the workouts I want, being a reasonable housemate for my husband (i.e. he does a lot of the cleaning, but gets understandably annoyed when I keep letting my responsibilities slide), and still having reasonable quality time together – plus a little “me” time!
And speaking of….

These “ingredients” make my pulse rise in anxiety. And yet, it sounds awesome.

Thanks Larissa! It’s so hard when you’re trying to get it all done and you’re OCD like me and try to be a perfectionist – being healthy and happy – that’s all I want 😉

Another excellent post Kat. Love the balance and I continually stress that to my clients. Love it!
Thanks Brad, it’s extremely important!
i totally take “mental health days” too, i definitely need them sometimes after a rough day teaching, and you can get so much accomplished! thats awesome you are planning on painting!
Im determined! 🙂
I am working on balance too.
It is so hard with a full time job, working out, blogging, and a million other things. If you find out the secret pass it along.
i will my friend! 😉
I was thinking of a mental health day. I just feel like I need one. I feel like I need a reason to take a day off, but that seems pretty important. :c)
Love the Featured Sneakers race outfits!
I’m not a runner, but I have Disney in common with Pam and Christine. I’m a Disney fanatic and visit all the time.
Awesome!
You should totally put some of your artwork on your blog! I’d loooove to see it! 🙂 I have a hard time finding balance but I adore how you schedule random days off.
I have an awesome art tab in zee blog! 😉 Friday can be a virtual art party!
