Hoover Dam Half Marathon: Race Recap
As you’re reading this, I’m resting up after finishing THEE race!
And for those that follow me on instagram, the outcome is already known news. But, keeping with my usual organized, Kat-like fashion, I want to ensure that race recap is a good one…so I’ll split this into parts, nothing fancy like the Twilight saga, but I’ll try to get as close as I can 😉
THEE Race Part 1: Thee Expo
Saturday, Beks and I met up for an easy shakeout run of a whopping 2 miles. Yahoo! I have been pretty nervous since my right glute/IT/hammy area has been acting up. Put that out of your mind Kat…don’t think about it!
Tape = Necessity.
Myself, K, Beks, Sunita, and Meghan headed to the Expo so we could get there early on Saturday and then have time for our priorities – eating and gabbing.
We ended up at the Vinoy hotel in St. Petersburg around 10am in time to get early access to our bibs and goodie bags!
I couldn’t find my name in the race roster and then remembered to use my maiden name. Ah ha!
This lovely lady, K, volunteered to pace me at the race. What a run angel! I am so blessed to have wonderful friends!
Especially when they try on clothes in portable tents just to make me giggle:
We were told that the expo was on the smaller side, but it was just enough! We all found stuff we’d been eyeing and loved the fun raffles and medals abound! Run Disney was there to represent and I made sure to check out the bling I’d be getting next year.
It was great weather, which was a great precursor for Sunday! We got in some hefty expo-ing before venturing outside of the Vinoy.
Then we remembered something…
Fit 2 Run, a store I frequent quite often and I am also an ambassador for, was celebrating a grand opening in their St. Petersburg store and were offering giveaways, sales, and a free trolley ride from the expo! We were all in!
Trolley ride here we come!
My loot? A Nike skort 1/2 off…my fabulous roller stick…some half Mary shirts and magnets! Goal!!
We found a quick bite to eat after shopping till we dropped and were on our way home. It was the perfect day to get me mentally prepared for Sunday with great girl time!
That night: pre-race carbs and relaxing!
Pizza was the name of my game…shooooooot 😉
Tomorrow’s post: THEE race part 2: thee race .. Lol
What are your pre race rituals or to dos?
