My sixth half marathon. In a row none-the-less.
The race that earned me another level up with the Half Fanatics. The race before the off-season.
I was anxious to finish this bad boy…. or girl!
“forget the RACE, forget the PACE, just know there’s a CASE at the finish!”
Now we’re talking!
You mean it only took beer to motivate me? At this point, sadly, yes.
So I pushed. I heard a woman wheezing next to me and asked her if she was okay, she said she’s asthmatic [too] and I offered her my inhaler. She insisted she was okay but thanked me for offering help. That motivated me to kick it into gear. The tiara and boa station came into view before the finish chute and I saw Melanie who handed me by tiara and boa so that I could finish strong – I thanked her and gunned it in for the finish as best I could. I saw the finish chute and tons of spectators cheering us on: ‘go Divas go!‘ I looked at my watch, saw 1:59, and knew I was close to a sub 2 – but I was happy coming in right on the nose: 2:00:29 to be exact.
Holy huge medal
And these were the guys who presented us with our medals:
Divas Kat Diesel and Kris Dawg celebrated the end of the season with FABULOUSNESS!
Now, I rest. It’s been a long season for me – I am a newbie distance runner and all remember? I haven’t stopped training since ((thinks hard)) last July/August – almost a full year! I know that Marathon training kicks off this summer, so I’ll pull back on the mileage for a bit and enjoy some time “sleeping in” (I’d forgotten how) and being in the moment. While I like structure and a plan, it’s good for my brain to disconnect here and there – particularly when I need to focus on studying instead right now!
Thanks to ALL of you for your love and support – even virtual support has shown be that there is kindness everywhere around me 😉 xoxo
What’s the most races you’ve some consecutively?
Would you eat a fried egg on your burger?
