Motivational Monday – Featured Sneakers #38

Thanks for the love on my long run ‘real talk’ post yesterday – I’m in a much happier place now after pizza, beer, and a relaxing day at home for sure! It’s great to know that the ups and downs of marathon training are ‘normal’ for most!

this guy + best relaxation buddy ever

We’re getting back to the usual gig here for Motivational Monday & that means more Featured Sneakers!

This week’s Featured Sneakers belong to my friend Shannyn who was also my Fitbloggin ’13 roommate! She’s been a frugal blogger who talks about how to live on a budget while still remaining fabulous – AND she just started running last year only to do loads of half marathons to date already! She’s also a pug momma who enjoys a good snort snuggle like I do 😉 I’m so proud of the progress this girl’s made with her fitness journey, check out a little more about her!

Name: Shannyn
What is your favorite way to workout/exercise: I am a runner, but just got into cycling.  I’m also a huge fan of Kaia F.I.T.!

What is your #1 cheat food: BEER!  There is nothing like a cold beer on a hot day…I’d run for that!
What advice do you have for those starting on a fitness journey:  Don’t compare someone else’s middle to your beginning.  Let others inspire, not intimidate you.  Sometimes others look like they have it easier or are fitter, stronger or faster, but they’ve been at it longer.  We are all on our own journey, and even on your worst day of trying to be fit or your worst run, you are better than you were before. Every day is progress!
Dream destination race/location:  Rock N Roll Vegas baby!!! But I’ll be running the Route 66 in Tulsa Oklahoma, and while it’s not as glam as Vegas it’s a dream come true!

Favorite inspirational fitness personality/trainer: Dani from Weight Off My Shoulders or Kat from Sneakers and Fingerpaints, REALLY! 🙂  You inspire me so much and make fitness feel like it’s something I can really master! (hugs, Shannyn!)
Workout apparel must have (+brand):  Mizuno Wave Riders and Moving Comfort Bras… gotta have the right gear so I’m not hurting after runs!

Motivational motto/quote:  “The miracle wasn’t that I finished, it was that I had the courage to start”  -John Bingham

🙂 I’m glad it wasn’t like “what?” I realized we were doing this post along with my personal post about running on the same day where I admit how bad I am at it and had to chuckle…

I missed yesterday’s post but I have NO DOUBT in my mind that you’re a fighter and that you will accomplish your marathon like a PRO!!!

And I really adore that quote Shannyn shared! REALLY DO – sometimes it takes all of our wills to just DO something!
