I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again – Even while on vaca, that’s all the more reason to keep up with workouts as best you can! I know all too well just HOW to mess up progress completely, BUT I also know that vacation is about BALANCE to enjoy time in a new place along with rest and recovery – so how did we mesh those two?
We got into Austin on Saturday and were able to get our packets before starting to enjoy our racecation! We were about 10-15 minutes from downtown and the race start, so picked a good area to be in the middle! Sunday morning was the race – full recap to come next week! – and we were blessed with overcast skies and cooler weather than we’re used to here at home in Florida! I have to say that the Austin 1020 was a VERY well put together race on the smaller scale for sure!
I accidentally forgot that I booked a hotel that didn’t have a gym facility. Oops. Instead, we were able to run/walk around local areaas and our hotel as well as squeeze in interval circuit workouts using body weight resistance movements in our room. Thanks goodness for improvising!
The last time we were in Austin we hadn’t gotten a chance to venture around the Town Lake Trail. After looking through some downtown neighborhoods on Tuesday we were able to do just that! We found a local parking area under the highway and made our way onto the trail. There were so many areas you could venture off into that were safe but varied in terrain. We stumbled upon the Austin Nature & Science center too! G really wants to come back, once his PF isn’t flared up, and do the different loops of the trail (You can do anything from a 5k loop to a 10 miler!)
Our workout theme for the week was WORK OFF WHATCHA EAT. While we made sure not to overindulge too much and incorporated our veggies and water each day, we did VACATION and explored the foods of Austin as best we could with the time we had!
More on Elizabeth St Cafe next week, but for all of my Instagram peeps you KNOW I LOVE this place!
To get back into gear when we were home I had a little help from X2Performance®! I posted HERE how I was able to try out the product and took full advantage of some ALL-NATURAL energy to help me get in a good Thursday workout after we were back!
I was a little tired from my first day back at work but was able to get in a KICK BUTT 5 miler + T25 Dynamic Core (ouch!) and arms at the gym!
Did it give me jitters? NO
Did it help with recovery like it said it would? YES – no soreness at ALL today!
Did it give me energy? YES – consistently throughout my workout
Did I feel any side effects? NO!
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who’s training and in need of a jolt of energy. It’s normal to get into slumps when tired and groggy from doing ALL of the things like work and working out and training. I am not one who is a supporter of fat burners and using too many supplements to aid in workout performance, BUT when in need X2 definitely did what it promised to do!
You can STILL get a FREE 30 Day Trial by going HERE!
Do you explore new places to run/workout while on vacation?
Do you make sure you WORK OFF what you eat when vacationing?
