I get asked questions about WHAT PiYo is and the same goes for Insanity – a lot of the time the exercises in both workouts can seem familiar while other exercises can seem new and take getting used to. The goal with progressing through each workout is to perfect each movement and focus on form over speed.
With both Insanity and PiYo, there is some momentum and speed involved and many people get hurt – not because they shouldn’t try each movement but a) because they should attempt a modification first to become comfortable and b) they should practice the proper form to ensure the body is in the alignment it needs to be to execute the move without injury.
I usually post about Training Tips each Monday and thought – “Why don’t I throw in some form and technique videos to help peeps understand movements within PiYo and Insanity workouts?”
Today we’ll chat about the Plank – no different from any other plank, and actually used in both Insanity and PiYo.
You can also view the video HERE on my Youtube Channel – feel free to subscribe as I’ll be adding a move a week!
That’s how we plank into down dog! Most people find it easier to plop right into plank, but understanding the placement for hands and feet and body in general for both to transition into either is key to form and technique with PiYo and this can also be kept in mind when doing plank in other workouts!
How often do you plank?
What other movements in PiYo would you want more elaboration on?
