Becoming a mom has been a very humbling experience. I was at my leanest point in my fitness journey EVER before finding out I was pregnant. I made it a goal to “enjoy” my pregnancy and not focus on weight gain. However, I also knew that I wanted to be a healthy mama and feed my baby the best way possible without going overboard.
I enjoyed the transformation my body did. I enjoyed watching my body grow a tiny human being. I enjoyed repeat servings of pineapple and donuts that I lost count of …
During my pregnancy, I gained a total of about 35 pounds. I feel that most of it was in my boobs! My ‘limit’ for myself was that number, so I was pretty pumped that I kept myself focused and would have some work to do for my comeback afterwards!
I can’t believe it’s been 3 months since I had my baby girl. It’s been about 2 since I was cleared to workout without any restrictions. I started out with walking and planks for core so that I began with a good foundation. I did a month of Core De Force – mostly modified – so that I had my endurance back and was able to come back in the second month of workout pushing even harder.
In the month of January, I decided to begin a 365 day (a.k.a. YEARLONG) coaching group. Yes, the ENTIRE YEAR versus one month at a time! I wanted to build a group of women who were ready to SHOW UP for 2017 and take back their health and fitness like they never did before! In a way, these girls were a team built to be on this ride with me so I was not alone in the fight to take my body back!
We all committed to understanding that there would be ups and downs as well as highs and lows along the way. We’d all tried various diets and trends. Who were we kidding? Those may have worked in the beginning, if at all, but they didn’t last for a reason. Changes related to lifestyle were needed in order for us to truly embrace the change we wanted to see on the inside out!
Since the first week of February was coming up, our first progress check in, I was nervous but also excited! I knew I worked very hard and couldn’t wait to see what the result was of that hard work!
From January to February, I lost 4.1 inches and 4 pounds!
OVERALL from November until now (The start of my post-natal fitness journey when I was cleared) I’ve lost a total of 10 pounds (the baby being delivered doesn’t count lol) and 8 inches overall!
Nutrition was a huge piece of this progress. I know I ate like utter CRAP when I was pregnant many times; I gave in to indulgences of sweets and treats because little girls are made of sugar apparently!
With me wanting to feel an look my best, I had to get back to my Portion Fix containers, better portions, MORE green veggies, LEAN proteins, and avoid processed sugars like the plague!
I couldn’t be more proud of my progress! am more proud of this progress than the progress that I experienced back when I very first started. WHY? Because It was so easy for me to make time for ME before. I had responsibilities and work and to-do list items; now I have a little baby that needs my full attention and wants to do her own thing each and every day. So, for me to make it through the time of having a newborn where you get no sleep and then transitioning to being at home on my own with the baby [a.k.a. clueless in the dark] was a huge deal!
I have overcome the easy excuse of ‘having no time’ so that I can feel more like myself and feel proud knowing I am getting myself and my body back. This isn’t just for me, it’s also for her and my family. I want to BE my best and FEEL my best so that I can GIVE my best!
Now that I have completed my Hybrid Workout Plan from Beachbody on Demand, I am about 90% sure I want to do INSANITY Max:30 again – modified to be safe! It’s the program that’s helped me get my leanest body and I did it all using my own body as resistance!
It’s time to keep going and KEEP progressing!
