New Mom Journal: Week 24

Day 168 – Loving our weekends!

It’s funny that while this little one’s naps have shrunk in duration, we are having the most fun ever! Her demeanor is so stinkin’ fun and lively and positive, we enjoy every moment with her — watching her and Tayler talk to each other, seeing her roll all over the place on her own, listening to her laugh and smile when she figures out her toys.

Weekends were meant to calm down from a busy week… to spend time together with friends and family … to make memories and savor in every little moment.

 

 

Day 169 – Sunday Snuggles

Around 530 this morning someone woke up with some teething pain and hangry. I was pretty sure she wasn’t ready to be up for the day so we decided to break some rules and snuggle in our bed as a family and sleep in some more. It was so nice! Little K giggled at daddy’s snoring and we got to enjoy our morning together without rushing or staying on our “schedule.”

Seeing this face when I woke up was a pretty cute surprise and motivation to get out of bed and go RUN!

Day 170 – Trading our view for our Anniversary weekend!

I’m really excited because this Thursday we get to leave on a trip as a family to a place we’ve never been before-Sedona Arizona!

Many of you may know that I earned the Beachbody success club trip to the Hard Rock resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It was an Almost-all expense- paid trip where we were going to spend our anniversary on the beach at a nice beautiful resort to enjoy our five year anniversary; a trip that I earned through doing what I love as a fitness coach. After evaluating our budget for trips this year and also looking at life as we know it currently, we decided to change things up a little bit. It’s even funny that living out West seems like a vacation in and of itself. The whole goal of us living out here was to road trip to different places and enjoy the different sights and mountains and enjoy hiking in all of the places.

Now that the baby is a part of our life and we want to spend as much time together as we can, we wanted to do a getaway that would include all of us. We’ve done really well making sure to spend time together as a couple and don’t want our anniversary just to be a reason to do that-we should be taking time for us as a couple new matter when it is anniversaries or holidays aside!

It was a tough decision, and I was extremely excited that I earned the trip to Punta Cana. I’m so pumped for everyone who was able to go! I know that my recognition as a fitness coach reflects in the results and transformations that I see in others and the trip would’ve been fun, but going to Sedona with the baby and my husband and the dog together as a family is so exciting to me!

 

 

Day 172 – NO excuses, by any means necessary!

Welp, this morning’s half marathon training run got split into three separate parts. I was able to get out for a little bit by myself after sleeping in a little bit this morning; my legs felt like lead from class last night. Then, I took the baby with me in the stroller because she woke up. Then, I grabbed the dog and we went out [the three of us] to walk the remainder of my cooldown.

I signed up for this half marathon in July just to get back into the swing of running and also to have a goal on the horizon. I truly believe if you don’t have a goal set before you, you really have nothing to work towards … and sometimes we can fall off of our progress easier than if we were to have something to shoot for. I also knew that coming back to running after having a little one would be a challenge, and that she would be joining for a lot of the miles for us to have quality time together.

I am enjoying the process, I am enjoying seeing myself get back even stronger than before!

 

 

Days 173-177 – We survived Sedona!

We spent 4 days in the most beautiful of surroundings on our first family vacation to Sedona, AZ to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary! The little ones, Tayler and K, were so good on the drive and also in our room as we pow wowed together. We hiked and saw some of the most awesome scenery and enjoyed time together as a 4-some. I know we will come back to do more once K is bigger and can be way more active!

 

I kept up on my half marathon training schedule and we balanced the 80/20 life with local wines and tons of veggies and physical activity to not lost focus of our goals!
