My Week in Training (5/14-5/20) – A week with AFAA & NOW Foods

Sometimes a Week in Training is only made possible by shifting typical schedules and squeezing in as much as you can! This week, I had planned travel on deck to Phoenix for training as a new AFAA presenter (more on that in a bit!) as well as the NOW Foods Influencer Immersion. Go figure that these trips overlapped on top of one another. In the spirit of ‘leading by example’, a never shake up never hurt anyone!


Usually, my usual training outline during this cycle looks like this (when all of the planets align) –

Sunday – Easy Run/Hike + a 30-45 min easy Peloton Ride

Monday – 30 Minutes of Core stability Metabolic Conditioning + 45 min hard Peloton Ride

Tuesday – 20 Minutes of Strength Complex Training + 30-45 min easy Peloton Ride

Wednesday – 20 Minutes of Core stability Metabolic Conditioning + 2 miles with the pup + 45 min Moderate Peloton Ride

Thursday – 45 min easy Peloton Ride + easy hiking/walking

Friday – 10 Minutes of Circuit Training + 45 min hard Peloton Ride

Saturday – 60 Minutes of Endurance on Peloton + whatever else I want

All things Peloton this week

I knew that I would be able to fit in a ride before my flight on Wednesday and that the rest of the week would depend on what each hotel had in store for me in their fitness rooms! As luck would have it, I found spin bikes child in Chicago the second day! So, Thursday I rode with Ally Love in the Eaglewood Resort gym.


I also decided to add in some Endurance once I was home over the weekend. You know, to use my fabulous ‘happy hour’ carb load that may have occurred when seeing my friends from around the country I hadn’t seen in a long time! So, I may as well PR in that ride, right? If you’re one who is a Peloton junkie like myself, you know about Power Zone rides. I’ve been PRing my 60-minute Endurance Ride time lately, and know it’s time to re-do my FTP test (Functional Threshold Power Test.) I’ve been putting it off for some time now and I need my friends in the interwebs to hold me to it!



Reunions & New Beginnings

My good pal Kristen and I met many moons ago when we were both roommates at one of our first newbie Master Trainer trips with Beachbody Live. Wouldn’t you know that we ended up both being pregnant at the same time and connecting even more on that journey? While seasons changed, we continued to stay connected and were both given the opportunity to become AFAA Presenters for 2018! While in Phoenix, we caught up and got to pow-wow about our goals for the rest of the year and into 2019! I am super stoked to start this journey with her and keep paying forward my group fitness journey to mentor other new instructors!



NOW Foods Influencer Immersion

I was selected as a NOW Foods Ambassador this year and was privileged to be invited to attend their 4th Influencer Immersion alongside some other Ambassadors as well as FitFluential influencers from around the country!


We got to learn all about their different lines including food, essential oils, vitamins and minerals, and sports performance! As is the standard for the blog-world, we connected over happy hour and over meals while also fitting in a sweat session on Friday! Kasey lead us through a stellar Bootcamp workout that left these little legs sore for more than a couple of days!


Being a student makes instructors even better teachers!

The icing on the cake was trying my hand at cooking alongside of “Team Green” for the Iron Chef challenge using NOW products. Being the NOT-COOK that I am, I helped prepped our ‘NOW Parfait’ that came in as one of the two losers in the bunch! If I do say so myself, we are one cute bunch of losers!



I enjoyed room service in my room without having to share my meal which hasn’t happened in months. I turned off the TV and music, only sitting to enjoy the peace and quiet. I was able to watch 2 movies BACK TO BACK on the plane ride home; I haven’t sat through an entire showing of ONE MOVIE in who knows how long. Even still, I was ready to see my nugget and be home after 3 days away.
