My Week in Training: (4/29-5/5) Donuts & The 300

Hello, and welcome to the next installment of my “Week in Training”! This week has been one full of focus on the 80/20 lifestyle and also hitting milestones a-plenty while juggling a CRAZY mix of schtuff¬†thrown my way!


First of all, the month of April is GONE! In that month, I rode my bike every day according to my current training plan. I also achieved 300 rides! Robin did an amazing job giving me a shoutout to push me to the end!



According to my activity tracker on my Apple Watch, I hit my movement/exercise/stand goals each day! Are we friends on the Workouts app?



We also got to run the Donut Judge Me 5k at Sunset Park on Sunday! Since I am the girl who loves to balance indulgence with a healthy lifestyle, this seemed the operative event to get some kicks in at! Besides, donuts are a weekly treat in our household, so why not move while enjoying them at the same time?!



If we get down to the nuts and bolts of things, my usual training outline during this cycle –

Sunday – Easy Run/Hike + a 30-45 min easy Peloton Ride

Monday – 30 Minutes of Core stability Metabolic Conditioning + 45 min hard Peloton Ride

Tuesday – 20 Minutes of Strength Complex Training + 30-45 min easy Peloton Ride

Wednesday – 20 Minutes of Core stability Metabolic Conditioning + 2 miles with the pup + 45 min Moderate Peloton Ride

Thursday – 45 min easy Peloton Ride + easy hiking/walking

Friday – 10 Minutes of Circuit Training + 45 min hard Peloton Ride

Saturday – 60 Minutes of Endurance on Peloton + whatever else I want

I was also able to PR on my 30 minute ride time. Since things were all sorts of NUTS in our world, I didn’t push too hard on my longer rides. I have been inhaling massive amounts of pollen and dust, as is the rest of the Las Vegas Valley, so I listened to my asthmatic lungs to avoid any accidents. In the strength world, I did kick off my #10adaywithKat challenge for MAY!¬† The goal is to do these exercises each day, 10 of each (also 10 each leg) to work on consistency and strength daily – a compound effect from the effort.


  • 10 Pushup Hip Taps
  • 10 Forward / Backward / Lateral Lunges
  • 10 Wide Burpees

Highlights of the week:

We didn’t gain 100 lbs from the Donut Judge Me 5k while catching up with a friend! Our goal was to have fun and not eat everything in sight! Talk about willpower on acid!



Ki started swim class and loves the water. My hope is that she’ll be an amazing swimmer who can save her mother from the deep end if and when needed.



To celebrate our 6-year anniversary, we got to spend a day down on the strip as local-tourists to catch a show, catch up on life, and hangout poolside!




Ki tried her first corn on the cob and is a fan. It’s also one of the cutest things I’ve seen her do.



Challenges of the week:

  • Life got crazy, making workouts and our regular routine a huge challenge to do ‘on time.’
  • Mom ended up in the hospital when I came home from our staycation on a hunch to check on her
  • We’re still waiting to see what the plan is for her to see how the rest of the week will go


Things I learned from this week a.k.a. a Public Service Announcement for my friends & readers:

I know life is always going to throw us curveballs, particularly when you’re caregiving for a household, but there are always blessings in every life lesson. I’m learning more and more how important my own health and self-care is so that I can be in front of it as much as I can for my family to have their matriarch at her best!
