Train to Adapt – My Monthly Training Game Plan + #PushItGang Challenge

I try to see each new month as an opportunity to rise to another new challenge. A wise person [who I listened to at a conference and can’t remember their name for the life of me, but their words have stuck with me forever] once told me:

When you stop dreaming, you stop living.

Now, no one says that our dreams have to be gigantic each and every month. Shoot, my dream most days is just to SURVIVE each day that gets thrown at me. The ultimate goal is to set a goal in sight and then fight relentlessly to see it through. I think the mistake that many of us make is that we set dreams and goals so BIG, that we talk ourselves out of achieving them or seeing them through.

Don’t fall off of the goal-in-sight bus just because it seems a little bigger than you can chew! The solution? Break that sh** down into smaller, more achievable goals each week and month so the outcome is much more realistic!

I’m right along side of you, friend.

I’m not miracle-worker. I’m not that girl who was an athlete growing up and decided to pursue fitness full time. If you learn about me and my story, you learn that I didn’t even begin to workout consistently and with INTENTION until I was 30. So, let’s keep it real. What I’ve learned over the past [almost, don’t get ahead of yourself] decade is that ANYTHING is possible. The caveat is to BELIEVE that it is and break down what one wants to achieve into smaller parts. Becoming overwhelmed never got anyone anywhere!

As we head into a new month, a hot one at that, let’s shift our mindset.

August [a.k.a. the month the kids go back to school and life can go somewhat back to normal – hallelujah] is finally upon us! It doesn’t take much time to sit down and brainstorm what we want to accomplish in the upcoming month; we just have to MAKE the time!

One of my favorite mantras, that I repeat over and over again to myself in my head each day, gave me an idea of a challenge to kick off this month.

Push it!

Thus, my little hashtag idea of the #PushItGang popped into my head!

And you can thank me for the song being stuck in your head. Yup.
What if we were to laser focus on 3 smaller goals each month that enabled us to ultimately achieve our much bigger goal as a result?

It’s not just about the fitness side of things.

Fitness is a huge piece of my life. It’s part of my day-to-day whether I try to make it that way or not. Even still, without me also making mindset and personal life priorities to zero-in on, the fitness goals WON’T happen!

I was so determined to stick to my guns that I even made us a handy graphic. I have to put this graphic design degree that I have to good use, right?

If I use myself as an example, here’s a snapshot into what my August looks like!

ULTIMATE GOAL for 2018: Be UNSTOPPABLE in the pursuit of a BALANCED and HEALTHY LIFE.

August Fitness Goal: Watch the Sugars to see the Muscular Gains

WORKOUTS:

Sunday – 30-45-minute easy Peloton ride

Monday – 30 Minutes of Core stability Metabolic Conditioning + 45 min hard Peloton Ride

Tuesday – 20 Minutes of Complex Training + 30 moderate Peloton Ride

Wednesday – 30 minutes of increased Strength Training + 45-minute moderate Peloton Ride

Thursday –45-minute easy Peloton Ride

Friday –45-minute hard Peloton Ride + Core/Stability Work

Saturday – 30-45-minute moderate Peloton Ride + 20 minutes of heavy lifting

NUTRITION:

4+ Veggies / Day

Keep fruit on hand to avoid sugar attacks. Stay out of the drive through. Don’t let mom buy any more Caramel M & M’s.

August Mindset Goal: Trust the Knudges

Whenever an idea pops into your head, be sure to pray on it and seek support first. Your main goal is to be present for your family and enjoy life in the margin, so when there’s a nudge it may mean something or it may not.

August Personal Goal: Live more in the Margin

You truly have the opportunity to do what you live without overextending. Be mindful to watch your schedule so that there’s time for errands and activities with the little monkey. Make weekly girlfriend get-together’s and date nights happen no matter what!

See, sometimes I have to pep-talk with myself to get anywhere! We have to remember that we make time for calls and meetings and errands and parties and events.

Why do we tend to shove time to plan out our own goals to the side more than the other ‘stuff?’

That stops now! Let’s join together as the #PushItGang and PUSH ourselves out of that rut, out of our comfort zone, and into a motivational zone that can create a domino effect!

Tell me (here or email or message me!)

What’s the BIG ultimate goal you want[ed] to see happen by the end of 2018?

What are your focus areas in fitness/mindset/personal life that’ll help you get there?

Great post Katrina! I loved the fact that instead of giving a detailed guide, you gave an easy-to-follow-schedule of which exercise to do & for how much time. This will work as great reference material. Thanks for sharing this!
