Chevy go for the Gold Challenge Part Duex

Monday morning I slept. For a full 8 hours finally! I was kind of pooped after a run & 3 active mini workouts Sunday so planned to do some sort of WOD at the gym and include weights as well.

Monday’s workout: Crosstraining WOD

I ended up doing 60 (3 rounds) of this circuit + some lat rows and shoulder shrugs, bring on the sore!

Oh yea, let’s pick up on the next part of the Chevy Go for the Gold challenge!
After our stint at Cinco Soccer and about 2.5 bottles of water each, the TBLB gals and I were ‘awarded’ the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid as our mode of transportation to stop #2.

pretty truck

I hopped in the backseat and played with the DVD player. I soon stopped because I was sans DVD (whomp, whomp, whommmmp.)

Since we were told we would be getting points for social media including tweets and facebook posts, all of us (except the driver of course lol) were going to town on our phones. Luckily most of us had our chargers with us.

We ended up at Bogie’s Beach Bar in Pinellas Park by 1pm. After taking a peek around the back we saw that we were set to play beach volleyball! A 5 minute monsoon was soon overhead so the girls and I all looked at each other and said “um, are we still playing?” I was the brat who said “and get soaked?” But the storm soon passed and we were set to play. All 5 of us hadn’t played volleyball probably since our high school days, but we were going to do our best!

The teams getting set – we split into two games like we did for soccer

Yay for heat and cotton T shirts!

The TBLB did pretty stinkin’ well! The other two teams had a game of 21/5 and we ended up playing a game of 21/18! We didn’t win, but we sure were winners in our hearts (tear?) Caroline was kicking butt with her serves and we were kind of bummed that the game was over just when we were starting to get our volleyball mojo going. Kerri Walsh and Misty May, eat your hearst out! It was pretty fun to run around in wet sand (we brought our trusty flip flops with us thankfully.)
No one knows we had to Google the right way to arrange the Olympic circles..until I posted this. Darnit!

Next up:

A Gymnastics gym?!

I admit that I watched every 2012 London gymnastics event that I could! I even attempted to run around the house, leaping and twirling to try to impress Gar with my gymnastics skills (which were null.) With my lack of skill, I focused on my final pose, which caused many-a-giggle from hubs.

This is that pose, TA DA!

I knew I was never going anywhere with my non-graceful skills, BUT when I saw we were coming to a gymnastics gym for our final challenge I was pretty stoked! Each team was to come up with their own 1 minute floor routine. We all looked at each other and shrugged. I can barely do a cartwheel and our only hope were ribbon props that the gang provided to us.

What do I do with this?

Caroline came up with an idea of us just being sure to count a certain amount of ribbon twirls while mixing in a few 1/2 cartwheels and ‘superstar’ moves.
Us practicing, can you handle all of this gymnastics action?!

We were being scores on synchcronization & creativity. When the time came for us to perform our routine, we volunteered to go first because we all happened to get a last minute care of stage fright (where were we, a spelling bee?) With a score of 7 & 8, we were pretty happy! We ended up only being a point off from the other 3 teams who all received 16 points total. Heading back to Cinco Soccer, it was our last change to cram in some more points with photo posting and tweeting!

Our favorite feature of the Escalade, heating/cooling cup holders!! I need these in my life now!

Jen drove the last leg (I never did drive that day, I am sure my stubby legs wouldn’t quite reach the pedals) and we were even greeted by the Chevy/GM paparazzi filming the event, lovely!

Overall we ended up taking 2nd place, the silver! Not too shabby! It was a fun day for us all and it was awesome being able to enjoy riding in another quality GM vehicle with some fun girls. Tired and schweaty, we all drooped like Eeyore and headed to our respective homes. Until next challenge, ladies!
Last night I cooked…again! (pause for reaction)
I’m loving my idea of making chicken breast, cutting it up, and boiling it before freezing dinner-sized portions. Makes life SO much easier!
Chicken breast w/snap peas, mushrooms & brocolli slaw stirfry over brown rice
I also enjoyed sharing this local paper with a few of my male employees who like to say that ‘men are faster’…”did faster bring home medals?!” NO! 😉

 Tuesday’s workout: 5 mile run

Time to tackle Tuesday!
Which means changing our address at a million places online, joy! 😉

This looks like a great day! I don’t think I would have fared very well in soccer or volleyball. I would have enjoyed the gymnastics part more!
