Most of you that follow me on Twitter or Instagram know that I’ve been fighting something…cooties…a zombie virus?

I woke up yesterday with a scratchy throat & on top of that was aleady working through an uninvited monthly guest- yea, double whammy.

Top 5 ways I deal with ‘her’
1) Keep dark chocolate around
2) Hide it from hubs
3) Dandelion root – water retention
4) Workout – makes you feel better in the end
5) Don’t short myself on sleep

Ok, where was I, oh – I just felt really tired and icky..”off”. I figured that since I had no fever and felt ok that I could head into work no problem. I even made it after work to see my Tampa blogger gals and chat about the Pretty Muddy race coming up on November 10 –  good company should always make one feel better eh? I was pretty excited to meet a few of my buds in real life and it’s so funny because we acted like we’d already known each other – ’twas no biggie! We chatted about the race which, we learned, was formed from an idea that some husbands had to get their wives out and able to have a good time – no boys allowed! With the race coming here and to other cities nationwide very soon we discussed what makes women come out to [mud] races and what motivates us. My suggestions of tiaras, Tiffany necklaces, and Go pro cameras may have gone overlooked 😉

Today I woke up still feeling off. My throat was ok, but now my ears felt like someone stuck their fingers in them…and that was the last straw. So, off I went to the doctor today to find out what the dealy was –  my asthma was being affected by allergies I wasn’t treating [I’d stopped taking my allergy meds since I thought allergy season was over….it went away for a month and now it’s back for the Fall, awesome!] So, now I’m back on nasal spray and daily antihistamines. I’d initially thought I was sick-sick; I felt weak and tired and icky and bleh. But not flu-like – I was still hungry and kicking. Good thing I decided to chat with the doctor instead of going on to the internet to self-diagnose myself.

Nothing better than Vitamin C, magic vitamins, and a turkey bagel thin sammie to cure-all.
She said that I was good-to-go for Saturday’s race and just to listen to my breathing and not push it should I start to wheeze or have a hard time breathing – no problem doc! See, coach, I’m not making this asthma stuff up! I seriously feel like since I’ve turned 30 my allergies have kicked into high gear and I should really consider living in a bubble. But then I think about being on an after-school special and I reconsider considering that 😉
Workout-wise: I am taking it easy. Yesterday I did some quick leg work via my pal Jess just to get some good mojo in for the day. Today we’d planned the day of from work to go to Orlando (hello, Dispicable Me! ride!) but with rain on the radar and me feeling icky we decided just enjoy a day of nothing. A walk will be happening with the fam, but that’s it. I rest until I race Saturday!
Anyone else have any icky sickies going on or deal with this time of year differently?

I hope you start feeling better soon! Exercising does always help during ‘that time’ even though it is always the last thing I feel like doing. But I always am glad I did afterwards!

Omg I am in the same boat as you allergy wise! When I was travelling to New England my nose got sooo stuffed up and I couldnt stop sneezing and my eyes started watering. I looked so sick but I felt fine other than being annoyed by my nose. I had stopped taking my flonase becaues I thought allergies were over!. Looks like I need to go back on that. ;p

I hope you feel better soon – especially for the race!! I’ve noticed my allergies have picked up these last few years. Not sure if it’s due to age or just pollen. Let’s blame it on the pollen!

Sidenote: That turkey sandwich look delicious. I should not read blogs when I am hungry 🙂
