Livin’ La Vida Local with Yelp!

Sunday, after I’d had a chance to relax after a muddy Saturday and long run that morning, I waited for hubs to get back from the Bucs game so that we could head to Datz for a big Yelp party I’d been looking forward to for a while now: Livin’ La Vida Local – our community manager Brett always knows how to put on a great event so I was excited!
I even busted out the straight hair for the occasion!
My, how it’s grown!
We arrived around 6pm, luckily finding a close parking spot, and were pleasantly surprised with the huge turnout and red carpet welcome!
Us posing for the paparazzi
Right when we got into line, we found just about everyone from the Tampa Bay Lady Bloggers crew – and most of us brought our mens! We are some crazy, muddy, Yelping, peeps!
Much like the Outback event we’d gone to last month, food samples were a’plenty as we explored the restaurants’ tasting stations on the first and second floors.
Local V6 Vodka Bacon Bloody Mary
Winter White Cosmo
Mulled Cider Martini with Siesta Key Rum and V6 Vodka
Bouchard Pinot Noir
Mars & Venus Cabernet Sauvignon
Cigar City Brewing Beer
Tampa Bay Brewing Company Beer
BBQ Short Rib Bunny Chow w/ white cheddar popcorn sauce
Mini Kobe Meatloaf w/ zesty tomatoes-brown sugar glaze
Open Faced Mini Reubens
Pulled Pork Sliders
Hummus Shooters
Chicken n’ Waffle Bar
Flatbread Pizzas

Are we some spoiled Yelpers or what?!

First up, was the chicken in waffle cone bar. Holy cow, why didn’t I think of this like last year?? Waffle cones with a single-sized piece of fried chicken, only to be topped off by maple syrup and hot sauce. My first tasting at the party, and my favorite. Hands down.
Thoughout the evening, tried each of the hors d’oeuvres and splurged on the tasty drink menu too: the cider and white cosmo were my faves.

There were Twitter contests throughout the week and I was pretty excited to win on Friday for my tweet about Datz sammiches, using their awesome names:
Kat P. – @KatSnF: “Some Dumb Cluck better back off my Havana Hottie before I Cue the Brisket! #YelpLocal @YelpTampaBay @Datz4Foodies”
Haha wittiness won me free dinner for two back at Datz!
After grabbing some chocolate swag, made my the chocolatier featured on the Hunger Games!, we headed home, full of great eats!
Pistachio (the pretty floral one) was my FAVE!
Thanks for the awesome time Yelp and Datz! We’ll be seein’ ya soon! (FYI I eat like a fiend after races, and next weekend’s going to be a big’un!)
Oh! And here’s the winner of the Kona Kase from last week’s Giveaway!
Congrats, Steph! I’m emailing you now for your info!
