Weekly Workouts Roundup – Marathon Training Week 14

2 more weeks until MCM! Crazy!
Link up with Meghan & I as we recap our workouts for the week in a Weekly Workouts Roundup!
It can be any day and not necessarily Sunday also!

Week of 10/6/2013
10/6- Stationary bike in am + dancing in the PM
10/7-  Post-wedding active rest day, stretching/core work
10/8 – 7 miles, including 3 1600s
10/9 – arms circuit including bike and HIIT
10/10 – 6 easy miles (including intervals at the end)
10/11 – rest day
10/12 –16 mile long run (miles 8-14 at faster than MRP)
29 total miles + circuit training
This week I decided to take an extra rest day after a busy weekend including the last 20 miler, a friend’s wedding, and dancing until we dropped! So, Monday I didn’t do my usual cross training workout and decided to catch up on work and rest as well. I kicked things back into gear, following the plan that Coach put together for me for the last 3 weeks of training – speed work was back in the mix. I have to say that the weather this week was LOVELY! Thursday I was able to ‘sleep in’ and start running at 730am for my 6 miles – and I didn’t completely melt outside!
Could it be FALL?!
I’m hoping it’s not a fake out, that’s for sure! 😉
I knew yesterday would be my last long-long run of the training season. Bittersweet is what it could be called, but I also wanted to knock that bad boy out! G and I met up with friends to arrange a way for him to run 9 and the rest of us 13-16. Somehow we made it work – we’re so blessed to have so many running options that also include catch up time with friends! G did the first 9 and then hopped on the bike to run my ‘faster than RP’ miles with me. They’re never easy, but with cooler air to breathe, they were MUCH more enjoyable. As usual, the sun became my kryptonite and towards the end, I stopped a couple of times to regroup. CAN DC PLEASE BE SUPER COOL ON 10/27?!
But we did it.
Team Brooks in the house!
And then we went and drank wine.
Team Work Hard – Play Hard.
Two more weeks?!
Two more weeks?!
It’s really sinking in that this bad boy is coming up super soon. I will trust my training and do my very best – but for now I’ll enjoy these last 2 weeks of training.

Wine after training is the best! My most favorite races are those done in the wine country so we can celebrate after finishing 🙂

TWO WEEKS!! TWO WEEKS!! Soon enough the race will be over and you will be telling us ALL ABOUT IT!! I’d give you advice on how you could prep more except……… I like to be trapped inside a claustrophobic box when I work out. (AKA: go to the gym)
