Today I’m another year OLDER! WISER is more like it at this age I think?
Thinking over the course of the past year, I have grown and learned a bit more in my 30s…yea I don’t fret when sharing my age – most people tend to ID me for Rated R movies LOL
I’ve learned to appreciate my city – we were on the cusp of wanting to move out of state earlier in the year. While we still do, we want to do it smart and at the right time. In the meantime, views like this aren’t too shabby.
I’ve learned that in our marriage we continue to learn about one another. Boundaries and what makes your partner tick aren’t learned just in your first year – nope, not true. You KEEP learning … and learning…
I’ve learned that setting GOALS is the key to accomplishing great things in life! And to never doubt I can do something before I even get started like I have before.

And that those goals can unite you with other like-minded people who you share lifelong bonds with. Who you stand alongside to support in their times of need.
I’ve learned that I am allergic to dogs, but that isn’t going to stop me from SNUGGLING the HAIRS off of this little guy!
I’ve learned that friendships and my definition of them can change. The friendships that I look for include a give and take and a bond on a level of faith. We’ve been very blessed to have some of the best friends we could ever ask for.
Also, those friendships don’t have to mean you live close by! I’ve always been okay with friends moving away, as I have an excuse to visit them. I didn’t know, though, that you could instantly bond with people in the virtual world – and when you meet, it’s like you’ve known them forever.
Friends in the virtual world can lift you when you’re down and also support you through your goals to keep you motivated when you need it the most. They have common goals and common likes that bring you together.
I’d gotten a change to meet these friends I met the virtual world & can’t believe the bonds we’ve made!
It’s totally okay to be a big kid!
… still playing at playgrounds…
… and dressing up as a hot dog!
I’ve learned that taking time to FOCUS on what’s important to me will help me FOLLOW my DREAMS to help and inspire others to greatness – to live a fit and healthy life. That ALSO helps ME to stay accountable for the same!
and I’ve learned that racing isn’t just about paces or times – it’s about enjoying the MOMENTS to celebrate the ACHIEVEMENT!
Ah, aging 😉
Not sure what’s on the agenda today besides work – G is in “I’m hiding a secret and can’t wait to tell you what it is” mode so we shall see!
What have you learned as you’ve grown older?
Any birthday traditions that you have?
great lessons friend! cheers to older and wiser!
Thanks girlie!
Happy birthday! I’d say you’re doing all right by having learned some great lessons already in life. And trust me, it is already b/c you are still a spring chicken!

Miss you girlie!!
Awesome lessons Kat! Happy happy birthday my friend!!!
Thank you Mindy!
Happy birthday Kat! I’ve just entered my 30s this year, and I’ve learned a lot about just letting things roll off my shoulders and to let judgment pass–I’ve never been too judgmental, but I’m even less so now. Entering my 30s, I just had one goal–to become a certified personal trainer. And mission accomplished, just a few weeks before my birthday.
Thanks Jessica – way to go!
Awesome post Kat and a Happy, Happy Birthday. Oddly enough, I have a Divas medal just like yours. LOL
Haha LOVE that medal! Thanks Frank!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I love all these lessons! What an amazing year!
Thanks Krysten!
Happy birthday!! This is a fabulous post, so many beautiful life lessons! It’s so hard to believe that virtual bonds can feel just as tight as “real” bonds in this day in age! Keep learning lovely!!
Thank you Emily!
Happy Birthday Kat! This post was very special. You are a fiercely inspiring woman and this year you have actually taught me a thing or two. Thank you for that. Enjoy the holidays and keep it up my friend.
