2014 WDW Race Weekend: The Expo + Meetups #WDWRaceTweetUp

This past Thursday morning I headed out to Orlando to meet up with my West Coast buddy, Linz, and begin out Disney Race weekend! He’d already ran the 5k that morning, so he’s TOTALLY Dopey.

via Instagram – Reunited and it feels so good!
We were primed and ready to hit up the expo!
FYI: If you need a guide for a Run Disney weekend, make sure to check out Magical Miles: The Runner’s Guide to Walt Disney World by Krista A & My friend Megan B!

It’s chocked full of info on how to get around with transportation, course maps, etc!
Here’s the lowdown on the Expo along with the meetups that took place this weekend!
2014 WDW Race Expo (went Thursday Friday):  This year’s expo was about the same as the year before, the merchandise in the far back and the layout was the same. The New Balance runDisney shoe lines were crazy as there were more NEW ones to choose from for 2014! We got our fair share of goodies along with the occasional photo opp!
Matching InkNBurn shirts for hubby and I when we run the Gasparilla 5k – and since we both ADORE Sugar Skulls!
I couldn’t have been more excited to see Carissa – my O-town girl and favorite runDisney announcer, Bart Yasso – aka the MAN from Runner’s World Magazine, and also to meet Chris and his wife Heidi Powell from the show Extreme Weight loss who were running the Half and also there to support clients doing the same!
#WDWRaceTweetUp (Thursday): Thursday afternoon we jetted over to Downtown Disney for our TWEETUP with Dani! We were so happy that so many runners showed up to chat and catch up and meet – and win giveaways from our sponsors!

OutsidePR and HoneyStinger hooked it UP! OutsidePR gaveaway a Hydrapack Wooly water bottle which I’d been using to hydrate ALL weekend – insulated with Eco-friendly material! Also the supplied some giveaway fuel. HS provided my favorite flavor of their fuel, Fruit smoothie, in gel and chew form – those who won tried an open pack I had first and couldn’t wait to use them during runs!
This Tweet Up was remiscent of the one we had at Disneyland – we were missing PavementRunner but he was there in spirit and Dani completed the trio on the East coast nicely!
A great turnout – awesome giveaways – lots of smiles, photos, and laughs –
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Do you take time out to meet up with friends during race weekend?
What MUST HAVE goodies do you look for at the expo?

I love meeting up with friends at an EXPO! And after seeing all the Disney pics on instagram I think I decided I have to add a Disney race to my bucket list. πŸ™‚

I’m so sad I didn’t get to see you this weekend! And I’m sad I couldn’t make it to the meet up. I didn’t get into town until about 5:00 and then I was rushing to get to the expo and get my bib since I was running the 10K the next day.

I swear, I’ve gotta do another RunDisney race, just to get to meet everyone at the meet ups. Looks like such a blast.

Woohoo for tweeting and getting Honey Stinger fuel! All of the races I did last year were with my team, and it’s much more fun going to the expo and hanging out before and after the event when you have plenty of friends there. πŸ™‚
