Monday’s Motivation #3

We ventured out of town to celebrate a wonderful friend’s birthday and also spectate her and her husband as they ran a half marathon Sunday!

That pretty lady on the left deserved a weekend of celebration! And a part in the hubby sammich πŸ˜‰

While they were racing, we hit the hotel gym for a workout…

And met them at the finish!
What an awesome way to ring in her birthday!

Let’s also kick off this week with Monday’s Motivation from Jackie! She’s continued to rock her own fitness journey through run runs and workouts and has goals to continue to inspire others like others have inspired her!

What is your favorite way to MOVE!: I am absolutely in love with Body Pump! For those who don’t know, Body Pump is a group work-out class using a barbell. It’s such a fun way to get into weight lifting, that’s not as intimidating as the weight room. 


What is your #1 indulgence? Aside from the occasional treat, how do you substitute it?
 I try not to think of foods as “good” or “bad” as I just stick to eating whole foods and avoiding processed ingredients, but as far as my guilty pleasure food that I know I can’t eat everyday – I’d have to go with a big juicy cheeseburger! πŸ™‚ Sometimes I make a lighter version, like turkey burgers with feta cheese when I’m really craving one! πŸ™‚

What’s your go-to snack? My favorite snack is Greek yogurt with nuts, seeds, dried fruit, or <a href=”http://foxywholefoodie.wordpress.com/2013/08/05/weekend-update-granola-recipe/“>homemade granola</a>. It’s so delicious and filling!
 
What advice do you have for those starting on a fitness journey: Don’t be afraid to start, and don’t expect to see results immediately! So many people start working out and get discouraged when things don’t seem to change right away. Start slow, and add a little more physical activity into your schedule each week – and choose activities that you love! Make working out something you look forward to, not something you feel like you have to do – and then it comes easy! πŸ™‚
 
Dream destination race to do: I recently learned that the Rock and Roll Marathon series does international races – and there’s one in Ireland! That would be my dream race!

Favorite inspirational fitness personality/trainer/idol: I don’t know a ton of fitness personalities, but I’ve also been really inspired by Jillian Michael’s story (she was very overweight as a child) and her fighting spirit.
 
Workout apparel must have: I’m amazed at how expensive work-out clothes can be! I’m a big fan of the Target Champion line since it’s reasonably priced and well made, but when I want a splurge I definitely go with Athleta. I have my eye on a long-sleeve running jacket for fall right now! πŸ™‚
 

What do you wish you knew years ago that you know now?  I know I still have a lot to learn! πŸ™‚ But I wish I knew years ago that I had such an interested in health and wellness – I would have totally studied this field in college if I had known then what I know now! πŸ™‚
