Today I want to highlight some of those folks as they train for races in honor of charities they are passionate about! This isn’t a post saying Please give money to ALL of the Racers, BUT if you feel inclined to help these guys fund-raise while also supporting a cause that’s close to you it’s to bring these troops to light as they embark on that mission!
Dani from Weight off my Shoulders: Once again my #WDWRaceTweetUp and Run Disney buddy is running with Tedy’s Team to race money to run the Boston Marathon this year! “Tedy asked the American Stroke Association to work with him to create “Tedy’s Team,” a group of runners raising money for the American Stroke Association and training to complete the Boston Marathon® and the Falmouth Road Race. Their participation supports Tedy Bruschi’s fight against stroke and honors both the survivors and the loved ones lost to America’s No. 4 leading cause of death. In addition to the dollars being raised, an equally important issue for Tedy’s Team is the increase in awareness of stroke and recognition of its warning signs. Tedy’s Team is striving to reach as many people as possible in its message of recognizing the warning signs and acting appropriate when seeing them — calling 9-1-1 immediately. I ran in honor of my Stroke Heroes, my grandparents, and will be doing so again this year. Unfortunately last year, my grampa passed away during the training. But, I feel as if he was looking down on me on April 15, 2013 and he helped me cross that Finish line at the right time.” Dani is hosting a Virtual 5k Race to raise funds while also giving medals to runners!

Genna H from R is for Running
is training once again with Team in Training to help support funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma research as she does her first triathalon at St. Anthony’s here in Florida. “I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.”

“My name is Tambra Means and I was chosen as a Team #RunDONNA Ambassador for 2014. I will be fundraising for the 26.2 Marathon to Finish Breast Cancer with Donna and running the full marathon in February 2014. I have set a fundraising goal of $3,000 to help fund research to fight to end breast cancer in men and women. Being a DONNA Ambassador and running this Race to Fight to END BREAST CANCER, to me, means we are SURVIVORS and we will FIGHT TO END THIS TOGETHER! Please help me reach my fundraising goal by donating today. No donation is too small! Thank you for y our support in the fight to help end Breast Cancer!”
In her own words, “It is my privilege and pleasure to work with the talented individuals who dedicate themselves to advancing the cause and work of Donna Deegan, the three-time breast cancer survivor and event namesake. Together, with my team of ambassadors, I am ready to commit to not only training to run another 26.2 mile race, but to fundraise for a truly worthy cause.”
“Hi, I’m Shannon and I’m a 2014 Ambassador for #runDONNA! I ran the 2013 26.2 Marathon to Finish Breast Cancer as my first full marathon and it changed my life. I fully stand behind the Donna Foundation and everything that it does to help breast cancer patients and survivors. Please take a moment to consider donating $1 or $100 or whatever you can to help this amazing cause. Every penny goes to help fight and find a cure for breast cancer. 100% of your donation is tax deductible. Thank you.”
Regina:
“I’m very excited to have been chosen as a 2014 #runDonna Ambassador! I will be running the half marathon on February 23rd in honor of those that have fought and continue to fight the battle of breast cancer. “

Have you run for a CAUSE?
How was YOUR week in Workouts? Link up HERE!
I walked for St. Jude back in November, and it was one of the most fulfilling workouts of my life, not because it was strenuous or I worked up a good burn, but because I knew that what I was doing had an impact on others.
That’s a great cause!
thats the only way Id run.
🙂
xo
Word!
This is a great post. I have not run for a cause, but do volunteer at the local 5k breast cancer run/walk and also donate to many who do run for charity.
That still counts! I’d love to volunteer at disney!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE ALL OF THIS!! So awesome ladies!
Mad Props yo!
I LOVE this! What a great post. I run and raise funds for pancreatic cancer research every year as part of the PurpleStride events in memory of my grandfather. Running for a cause really does help to give even more meaning to what we can achieve as runners! 😀
That’s so awesome Jennifer!
This is great! I run each year for Team Corey. She was training for the RnR Philly when she was in an accident. So we run each year until she can run with us. It is not a set up charity so 100% of the money raised goes direct to her care.

I love this & I have done things for a cause & it makes it so more rewarding!
Great job, ladies! I am running the Princess Half Marathon for the Kellsie’s Hope Foundation. It’s really been a rewarding experience training knowing that I’m running for something bigger and better than me!
