Margaritaville – Our Key West vacation

Last week [on Thursday], we boarded the Key West Express from Ft Myers to take us to Key West bright and early. We’d been looking forward to a few days away to relax and enjoy ourselves before things got crazy with lots going on including a move!
Here’s a photo montage/summary of our trip!
After about 3.5 hours on the boat (2 hour drive to Ft Myers Beach) we were there! We spent most of our days walking along Duval St and checking out what was nearby our villa.
It was hubby’s actual birthday Thursday so we headed to a surprise dinner for him at Latitudes which is off of Sunset Key – we even had to take a boat to get there!
The gang!

Hubby had their skirt steak.

I dabbled in their sea scallops – we ALL cleaned our plates for sure!
The birthday boys (our friend celebrates his birthday a couple of weeks after hubby’s) were super happy in Key West!
Every morning I went on a run, even if a short 2 miles (such a tiny Key!) to explore and see the area on foot.

Little known fact – the Southernmost point really isn’t the SOUTHERNMOST point lol. It’s actually the Naval base in Key west that’s the most southern point of Florida.

We arranged to go on a Sunset cruise Friday night as part of a deal we got when we booked an all day catamaran trip Saturday.

Saturday we had THE BEST time on board the Sebago Cubed catamaran that took us out to the reef to snorkel and then brought us back to banana boat, kayak, paddleboard, jet ski – all while feeding us lunch and breakfast and snacks. I always say this is the BEST deal in Key west!

On another run I ran into a buddy of mine, Caribbean Steve we call him, who ran Ragnar the day before and was out for a recovery run. Go figure!
Sunday night we made our way, our last full night in Key West, to a beautiful place called the Sunset Pier restaurant. Live music, good food and drinks, this place was where it was at!

We were primed and ready for our ghost tour that took us all around the island – I may have jumped MORE than a few times – to learn about the history and stories from long ago. Another favorite Key West thing I love to do!
On Monday, we were headed home after a day out in the sun. We decided to have brunch at Blue Heaven with the steel drum player and chickens. This is another AWESOME restaurant that people have to check out – it’s definitely a Key West place to be.

Until next time, Cheers!

I was only in Key West for a brief stop on a Caribbean cruise. It was gorgeous and I would love to spend a few days there. Was that your first time to try paddle boarding? I wanted to try it last summer, but never got around to it.

FUN I would love to visit the Keys one of these days. I think Chicago is one of those perfect cities to see on foot – and Savannah, GA (downtown at least).

Love Key West, Hubby and I went there for spring break with some friends just a few months after we started dating, he also had to save my life on that trip when the snorkling off the catamaran went bad due to high waves.. yea, lol don’t go out in wavy seas, looks like the water was much calmer for you guys!
    Glad everyone had fun!

Love Key West! We went there two years ago this coming April, and absolutely loved our time there. We also ate at Latitude’s – such amazing food with an incredible view to enjoy, especially at sunset.

I went to Key West when my brother was stationed in the Coast Guard there. I remember it being so incredibly humid that the bed sheets felt wet all the time. It was beautiful, but sticky.

We did a little road trip through FL in 2008 and had the time of our life. LOVED Key West, it felt like the Caribbean! The Sunset is to die for!!
