Motto/Inspirational Quote? Set yourself up for success!
What is your favorite way to workout/exercise MOVE! I LOVE to lift weights. Nothing makes me feel stronger, more powerful and capable of anything!
Why chocolate, of course! Dark, milk, white, with caramel, coconut or pecans. I love it all. Aside from the occasional treat, I satisfy my cravings for chocolate by drinking chocolate mint tea and baking paleo treats with dark cocoa powder. All of the flavour with none of the sugar or fat!
Whatโs your go-to snack?
Fruit and nuts. Preferably fresh fruit and raw almonds. But I’ve always got a cashew or peanut butter Larabar in my gym bag for those blood sugar emergencies.
What advice do you have for those starting on a fitness journey?
Start small. Ask yourself how much you can reasonably accomplish in the first two weeks and cut it in half. It’s so much easier to keep going when you set yourself up for success. Plan two workouts a week. You’ll easily get them done and end up feeling proud of yourself and motivated to do more.
Bucket list destination/race/to-do?
Stand-up-paddle boarding in Hawaii! I’ve yet to try it and think a tropical location would be the best place to start!
Favorite inspirational fitness personality/trainer/idol?
To be honest, it’s not the fitness personalities or celebrity trainers that inspire and motivate me. Instead, I find inspiration in the everyday athletes that fill my Facebook newsfeed and work alongside me at the gym. Real people facing real challenges to healthy living, yet getting it done.
What workout apparel is your MUST have?
I live in workout crops and a close-fitting tank top. For workouts AND everyday living. I prefer comfort to fashion and would love to meet the inventor of Lycra to thank him/her in person!
What do you wish you knew years ago that you know now? Building muscle is the key to healthy aging. Trade those long hours of cardio for shorter, more intense strength training workouts. Your body will thank you later.

I learned SO much!
Tamara always struck me as very down-to-earth; it’s great that her inspiration is found lower-to-ground too!
Could not agree more: it’s the Real, Everyday peeps that inspire me the most! Also agree about weights vs cardio for aging. I need to get off this marathon hamster wheel…
love tamara and her wisdom her awesome book! Keep it real friend, always!
Love Tamara. Love real peeps who keep it real. They are the most inspiring.
Real people inspire me more than athletes and celebrities because I feel more of a tie to them.
LOVE Tamara & real people!!!!
I work out often and I really enjoy it. And the supplements I like aren’t boosters, protein replacements, or steroids. They’re just awesomely souped up multivitamins that I really like.
