Name: Tenecia
Blog: Boobs, Barbells, and Broccoli
Motto/Inspirational Quote? My favorite poem is Invictus by William Ernest Henley. I particularly love the following lines of the poem “In the fell clutch of circumstance, I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance, my head is bloody, but unbowed.
What is your favorite way to workout/exercise MOVE! I absolutely love love love lifting weights. There’s something about walking into the gym and picking up dumbbells, barbells, plates, etc that just makes me happy!
What is your #1 indulgence? Aside from the occasional treat, how do you substitute it? My number one indulgence is marshmallows. I don’t know what it is but I just can’t get enough of them. Peeps, chocolate covered marshmallows, plain marshmallows, gimme gimme gimme! Since this is a treat that is ridiculously high in sugar, I have it once in awhile and limit the amount I consume.
Whatβs your go-to snack? I don’t really snack but my favorite go-to meal is tuna, 1/4 cup of brown rice, 1/4 cup of lentils, and 2 T of olive oil all mixed together with a couple of dashes of cajun seasoning – yum!
What advice do you have for those starting on a fitness journey? It’s all about baby steps. Small changes when added up make a huge difference so keep that in mind when you’re not seeing results as fast as you would like.
Bucket list destination/race/to-do? I would love to compete in Figure at the Arnold Amateur one day!
Favorite inspirational fitness personality/trainer/idol? Erin Stern, IFBB Figure Pro
What workout apparel is your MUST have? I love my X2X Clothing tank tops (they’re cut perfectly for girls with wider backs)
What do you wish you knew years ago that you know now? I wish I had known how much fun it is to push yourself in the weight room – that iron can be a girl’s best friend π

I am envious of Tenecia’s muscles. This makes me realize I need to spend more time with weights and less time pounding the pavement. Kat, I agree that rest days are super important. They keep injuries at bay and make us eager for our next workout!
So hard to remember for sure!
Thank you! Definitely start & maintain a relationship with weights – you’ll be glad you did π
T.
She is definitely inspiring- great feature! I’ve come to enjoy weight lifting so much more in the last few years.
Thank you Laura!

Sounds like a neat blog. I will have to check her out. I need more rest days. I am pooped from this weekend and the time change.
Love the blog’s name, ha ha. So positive and motivating. I think I need an extra rest day this week, especially if I want to run a decent half on Saturday.
Thank you, Natalie π

Thanks Kat for the reminder about needing to rest. Its often difficult to remember that rest is just as important as working out is.
I love Tenecia. She is always inspiring. Especially how she stands out on her front lawn in her bikini to take progress pictures. Dang, seriously cool.
Susan!! Thanks for stopping by! And the progress pics in the front yard….that’s just pure craziness… π
