Tuesday 6/15 – 1 Hour walk + Max 30 Tabata Power
Wednesday 6/16 – 2 Mile Walk + Insanity Class + PiYo Class + Insanity Class + Fit Camp Class
Thursday 6/17 – 2 Mile Walk + Insanity Class + PiYo Class
Friday 6/18 (planned) – Active Rest Day
WHY, HELLO SUMMER! We’re well into the hot summer months here in Florida and with venturing outdoors more and enjoying the sun there are some things to keep in mind more now than ever:
✓ WEAR SUN PROTECTION: We all love being outdoors in the sun (between the storms here in Florida) but with that also comes the awareness of sun protection. If you’re in the water, be sure to use waterproof sunblock/sunscreen and reapply per the directions on the one you choose. Even for someone like me who is “brown by nature” it’s important to remember that we all need some protection from the exposure to the sun! Unfiltered Vitamin D is good, but in very small doses depending on the strength of the sun!
✓ HYDRATE LIKE A BOSS: At a minimum we want to shoot for the recommended amount of water a day of 8/8 oz servings (64oz. – POST HERE about WHY we need Water) but in the summer it’s important to adjust when needed! If you’re outside and getting all hot and sweaty it’s important to remember to replace what you lose so that your body can keep on ticking as it should!
✓ BALANCE THE BBQ: When doing summer get-togethers and BBQ time, be conscious of eating habits. It’s easy to get caught up chatting, drinking, and enjoying time with others but never lose focus of your goals. PLAN your cheats: if you know you will attend an event, really watch how the rest of your week goes so that cheat meal/treat is balanced into your eating plan.
✓ PLAN FOR VACATIONS: When traveling either on road trips or flying for vacation, plan ahead! Be sure to pack healthy snacks and treats so that you can ensure your success on the go. I know for me I like knowing I have healthy snacks available because airlines don’t provide anything remotely healthy anymore and because I want to eat before I’m hungry. Travel with empty water bottles for ease of use and portable, non-perishable snacks!
✓ BLEND QT WITH THE FAM + FITNESS: You don’t have to reserve time for fitness AWAY from spending time with those you love necessarily! Have fun in the pool…play around the playground….do a family field day or walk….bike together…blend the two and it’s multi-tasking at it’s best!
✓ TAKE WORKOUTS INSIDE: I talked here about why I do workouts at home, but you can also do classes and keep yourself cool by sweating it out in the A/C! Having asthma myself, I try to be sure to watch my breathing so that I am keeping myself safe and so that my body isn’t being overworked past the point of recovery. I’m sure there’s a lovely group fitness instructor in your area you could come sweat with….
