Living life on our terms

When I was in my teens and 20’s I thought I knew what I wanted to do in life … and boy was I mistaken in my own judgment!
I used to think at one point and time that I wanted to be a teacher … I wanted to be an artist and even graduated college with my degree in that area. I was always looking for something to DEFINE ME but I hadn’t even defined myself to know what that was.
LIFE EXPERIENCE has taught me more than I could imagine. It took me hitting my 30’s to FINALLY discover WHO I was and WHAT I wanted in LIFE! I would rather find out sooner than later, but better now than never, right!?
What ONE WORD would you say you want your life to give you daily?
I’ve decided to live LIFE ON MY TERMS through what I do as my career, what I choose to do daily, and how we focus on our priorities in life!
Thinking back, I lived my life out of FEAR and not out of finding FREEDOM. I worked in a day to day job that paid the bills but gave me no purpose. I don’t blame the environment or the job by any means. I blame me for getting too comfortable in that scenario to see that I was losing my momentum with the purpose that God was placing in MY LIFE.
Since becoming my own ‘boss’ about a year and a half ago, after being in the working world for almost 20 years, I have become a new person even more so. I thrive off of new experiences, traveling on my terms, being with my family and going on adventures together – THAT is what gives me true happiness!

Hiking on a Monday afternoon? Why not?!

I’ve also learned continuously that I ALWAYS have to keep pushing the envelope to NEVER get too COMFORTABLE. The moment I step outside of my comfort zone, is the moment I become better as a human being!
Years ago I would NEVER:
Meet NEW People.
Introduce myself TO new people.
Travel anywhere unfamiliar.
Try new experiences without researching them first.

Be in workout video that streams online? the old me would never have!

We should live our lives focusing on kindness, being open to meeting amazing new people, and in a way that lets us look back down the road and appreciate all of the memories we’ve made!
The ‘hustle’ of working a full time job, teaching before and after work, and saving and pinching every penny I made on the side for two years was worth every moment! I am now here experiencing a FREEDOM for my family and I and have my eyes set on our future ahead!
What would you change if you could live life on your terms?
