It was interesting to celebrate Mother’s Day 2016 ‘privately’ because we hadn’t announced formally that we were expecting. I knew, though, that Father’s Day was coming and I was so excited that I could celebrate Gary being the best “Baby Daddy” or “Baby Making Partner” (as he calls me) that I could ask for!
For his First Father’s-Day-to-be, we enjoyed some time at church and made time to workout together hanging out with Tayler at the park. I got him a little gift of a homemade candied apple and a onesie that Kiala can wear in his honor!
We did a BBQ dinner with friends that night who happen to be helping us find our house (our realtor) and who are also expecting! We had a spread (I failed to take a photo of) and watched Game 7 of the NBA finals – the boys even made plans for football/baby Sundays once the littles are here.

My new Julia dress was the perfect dress to eat in!
Little did I know, I WAS THE ONE in for a big surprise after Father’s Day weekend …
After a rough couple of weeks with our house not pulling through, negative vibes conflicting with me, I felt defeated while celebrating a happy holiday … and Monday I got a visit from just the person I needed to see to make it all better .. MY DAD!
Gary and I Dad made plans to have him visit and surprise me after his fishing trip to Alaska — I was in tears! I hadn’t see my dad since we moved from Florida in September, so I couldn’t wait to get a hug and spend time with him in our new town!
We decided to take Dad to see all of the things including the Vegas Sign, the strip (in the car, not on foot), a local hiking trail, and some of our favorite restaurants — he was happy to oblige!
We ventured to Mt. Charleston for the first time and decided to do Fletcher’s Canyon trail — the temps were 30 degrees cooler than in the city, so it made for a perfect summer hike option!
Dad even joined me for my PiYo class since he’d never seen me teach or taken a class before — I have to admit I was nervous, I always want to make my dad proud!
I can’t wait until Kiala is here for next Father’s Day to celebrate with her daddy and grandpa herself!
What were your plans this Father’s Day?
