Eating for two can be a very relative catch phrase in the world of pregnancy. Pregnancy cravings can strike at any given moment, whether they are related to a fixation, craving, or hormonal urge! It’s like a sweets-cravings takeover for me!
I know I am enjoying this journey with little Kiala growing in my belly, but I also know that I have to be cognizant of my ‘old self’ creeping back who LOVED to indulge ALL of the time! So, with pregnancy cravings comes BALANCE!
I’m still teaching (modified when needed – another post to come on that) and I am still getting in my own workouts with me following the INSANITY Max:30 plan (loosely depending on my schedule) — so I am getting the FITNESS piece in no matter what.
I’m also being sure to follow my meal plan that’s helped me since the day I started it — the 21 Day Fix — so that I am on point with getting in the right amounts of veggies and whole foods first and foremost.
The name of the game truly is BALANCE.
We live in Las Vegas for Pete’s sake … home of restaurants galore and all of the foods I could ever crave and get my hands on within a 15 minute radius … including …
SNOW CONES!
When our bodies are going through internal changes or external changes, we can tend to turn to food as a comfort. When we are sure to get in proper nutrition BEFORE indulging, we can make smarter decisions!
Shakeology is a lifesaver for me, and I take it each and every morning to kick off the day. It’s been doctor – approved for me, blending in my prenatals in between as well.
With 70+ whole foods, super foods, all of my needed vitamins and minerals (I just need additional folic acid and DHA for le bebe,) I can set the foundation for my day. I know that filling nutritional gaps is key, so that I don’t completely go overboard but still let myself enjoy this experience!
SIMPLER rules can be:
■ Don’t eat the whole pizza
■ Donuts are okay, one at a time. Not one DOZEN at a time.
■ Do eat 4+ servings of veggies a day to get the needed nutrition for baby in before going cray
■ Use juice when you don’t feel like chewing on greenery
■ Skittles are little and portable, and easy to eat a little at a time
■ Fruit is nature’s candy
■ Remember there’s a baby in there who needs lots of HEALTHY eats!
Nice post to share. Pregnancy cravings are common and most women experience them. These strong food cravings are probably triggered by hormonal changes or a possible nutritional deficiency.
Keep posting useful blogs.
