This baby is coming a lot quicker than we could even imagine! In true nesting mode, I’ve been sure to focus on:
- Quality Time with hubby
- Getting in dinners & adventures out before we are in a new baby routine
- Getting the nursery ready
- Cleaning like crazy
- Being sure our hospital bags and car seat are set
- Walking like a boss with yoga and upper + lower body strength in between
- Making sure we’ve got food all ready to go when life gets cray-cray!
Food prep has been an integral part of our lives since a few years ago. It’s more about having the RIGHT choices in our house and also meals made for ease so that we avoid bad decisions or over spending. We have been sticking to the “21 Day Fix Approved” menu of foods to behave 80% of the time, allowing for 20% in cheats! With Baby K on the way, we knew we had to have enough food in the freezer ready so we could focus on time with her and bonding together as a family.
In order to store our food the right way, I had to get a few supplies set:
- Quart and Gallon Sized Freezer Storage bags
- Freezable containers + aluminum foil & wrap
- Sharpies
- Food Staples to create my list of 10 or so meals
Over the course of 3 days, I took some time to make 1-2 recipes from my list whenever a spurt of energy came rushing through me. It’s been much easier since being in our new home for me to acclimate to life as a ‘quick prep chef’ since we have so much more room in the kitchen!
Things to keep in mind were to ensure veggies were evident in every meal, they were easy to heat up and eat in a jiffy, and didn’t require any additional work after being thawed out. We also had to clean out our freezer so we had room for these meals.
I could just see us eating whatever was quick and easy and falling off of our daily habits of eating right if we didn’t PLAN to SUCCEED. So far, we’ve gotten about a week and a half’s worth of food for lunches and dinners! We still do our Shakeology (the quickest and best meal of the day!) for Breakfast and know to keep lots of healthy snacks and fruits in the fridge for go-time.
I’ve created a PDF where I share my recipes with those I am coaching so that they have it available to make simple food fast as fuel! (Say that 10 times fast!)
If you want the list, just shoot me a line and we can chat about your nutrition and how little improvements can keep you saving time and also eating more of the good stuff! xo
