My Undieted Diet

DIETS. Man, if I had a dollar for every one I’ve tried in my 36 years, I would be a millionaire and have saved myself SoOooo much angst!


You see, I truly think that ALL diets DO “work.” They’re meant to work. They’re meant to work when they are followed through in a consistent regimen carried out each and every day of said diet.


Here’s the thing: They’ve just always messed with other areas of my life. Your mental capacity and time management has everything to do with the success OF a diet. I’m sure I’m not the only one, but being ON a ‘Diet’ also puts on added pressure to do really well and we end up shooting ourselves in the foot when we feel we’ve ‘failed.’


Let’s keep it real friends: DIETS CAN STRESS US OUT!


We already have enough to be stressed about in every day life, and adding more pressure on ourselves to do something else even better can set us up more so for failure than for success.


Am I saying you shouldn’t focus on EATING BETTER? NO!


I’m saying that, I decided on an leading a life by abiding by my Undieted Diet.


All this means is that I am not following any plan that has me:

Limiting Carbohydrates, Proteins, or Fats (aka necessary macronutrients in my body)

Eliminating foods unless they medically impact me or I’m allergic to them.

Using any device to weigh or measure my food

Staying within certain numbers of calories or nutrition information (that may not be correct on a nutrition label)

… Making myself feel guilty for indulgences every once in a while



I grew up not knowing a ton about nutrition. So, for me, it was a process in and of itself to learn ABOUT nutrition. I had to figure out what a fat was, how it is used in the body.. what protein does for our muscles … why carbohydrates are needed for energy in the body and for which types of physical activity. I essentially became a personal trainer to LEARN for my own gain before paying forward what I learned to others.



I come from a multi-cultural background, so I’ve always loved trying foods from all cultures. I feel that the best way to learn about a culture or to see a city is to eat the food!


I’ve always said on my Social channels, that I live according to the 80/20 lifestyle. I ‘behave’ 80% of the time by making sure to eat enough healthy and whole food carbohydrates, fats, and protein. Then, I have 20% of my life spent indulging! Is it an exact science? [someone asked me this before when it came to the 80/20 percentages] NO! It’s more of an eyeball situation.


I eat REAL food that comes from the Earth including loads of veggies and fruits and organic proteins and wholes grains. If I choose to sneak in a donut or indulgent glass of wine [which comes from the Earth technically!] I don’t shame myself for it. I’m also NOT perfect. I have moments and seasons where I have to check myself before I wreck myself so that I don’t flip flop that to 20/80 life.


I believe we all have to find what works best for us. Many diet trends and ways of eating work for different people. We just have to be aware of what’s working for us and when it’s no longer serving us for our goals, we just change it up to keep on our toes! Listening to our bodies is key and avoiding added stress can help us hit our goals that much easier — and that’s a whole other blog post all together.
